Kuhiawaho is excited to announce our Puawa o Waiawa Summer Program 2022. Puawa o Waiawa is a native Hawaiian leadership building internship geared towards college going haumāna that are interested in mālama ʻāina and are committed to strengthening our moku of ʻewa. This internship will provide four interns the unique opportunity to work outdoors and aquire the skills and knowledge that it takes to cultivate loʻi kalo, loko wai, as well as create strong relationships to ʻāina and people within the ʻEwa moku.

ELIGIBILITY

Hāumana must

  • Be hardworking and motivated to go to college pursuing any degree

  • Have a positive attitude

  • Be able to work 12 hours a week

  • Provide their own housing and trasportation

  • Native Hawaiian ancestry preferred but not required

WHEN

January 2022 - May 2022

WHERE

Kuhiawaho. Interns will be asked to work on-site with staff. Work will primarily be on-site with the opportunity to huakaʻi on certain days.

WHO

Haumāna that are enrolled in college and looking for an opportunity to learn more about traditional Hawaiian and contemporary community-based farming practices while also giving back to their community.

BENEFITS

Haumāna will receive a $2000 stipend dependent on successful completion of hours and expectations.
